Gator Outdoor Adventures

Gator Outdoor Adventures

Gator Outdoor Adventures (GOA) is a student led and focused program that offers a variety of outdoor trips and workshops at SF State.  Our mission is to help students grow and learn through the appreciation of the natural world. We work to facilitate transformative experiences that help participants develop skills that translate back into the classroom, work-world, and beyond.  Whether you're a first-time camper or an experienced outdoors person, we believe we have something that will engage you outside.

Examples of past trips and workshops include camping, hiking, backpacking, mountaineering, rock climbing, visiting hot springs, navigation workshops, backcountry cooking and much more.

GOA welcomes persons with disabilities and can make reasonable accommodations upon request. If you need reasonable accommodations for any of our events, please contact our programs Student Managers by email at at least 15 days before the event.

Come get outside with us.

Outdoor Adventure Trips & Workshop Series

Each trip is categorized with an Experience and Difficulty Level to help participants better understand what to expect on trips. It is encouraged for participants to register for trips that may be rated above their experience and/or difficulty levels to stretch their comfort zone and challenge themselves more in outdoor recreation.  See bottom of page for a summary of the different levels.

Register for an upcoming trip or workshop through our Member Portal link below.

  • Beginner: No experience is necessary; this trip is open to all experience levels.

  • Intermediate: This trip will be using more outdoors skills.

  • Experienced: This trip will involve more advanced outdoor recreation skills.

  • Easy: Terrain on the trip should be manageable for all fitness levels.

  • Moderate: Terrain and the planned route would be more manageable if your fitness level is a bit higher.

  • Difficult: Terrain and the planned route on the trip is expected to be difficult for most fitness levels
