Rental & Return Policies

We do our best to create opportunities for students to get outside and use the equipment we offer.  The following are some policies that we have to help ensure that the equipment remains safe and in quality shape for others to use after your rental:

General Policies

  1. Rentals are only available to SFSU students, staff or faculty with a current Mashouf Wellness Center membership and a valid SFSU ID card
  2. Person’s must sign a rental agreement prior to taking gear from the ORC
  3. Rentals start from the time the gear is rented and are due back by 6pm on due date
    1. A one-day rental starts from the time the gear is picked up, and ends on the same day at 6pm
  4. Equipment can be rented out for a maximum of 12 days.
  5. We do not take reservations for equipment and operate on a first come first serve basis.
  6. All rentals are final, and no refunds will be issued for any reason.

Pricing

  1. The Outdoor Resource Center currently has a member only rate.
  2. All prices listed are daily rental rates

Forms of Payment

  1. Only credit/debit card purchases are available at this time

    1. No cash or check will be accepted

Late Returns

  1. All rentals are due by 6:00pm on the contracted return date. If equipment is returned after 6:00pm on the due date, the renter will be assessed a late fee of $5.00 per day per item

    1. I.E. A single item that is three days late will be assessed a $15.00 late fee
  2. All charges are based on the time that the equipment is in renter’s possession, whether it is in use or not

Damaged or Lost Equipment

  1. It is the renter’s responsibility to check for flaws, defects, and damage prior to accepting the equipment. At the request of the renter the rental staff will assemble and/or review equipment usage and condition at the time of rental pickup.
  2. Please allow 30 minutes upon returning of equipment for staff to check over the equipment. Fees will be assessed by the staff for any equipment that is lost, stolen, dirty, damaged, and/or deemed un-serviceable.
  3. Damaged equipment fees may be reassessed by management up to seven (7) business days after return. The renter is responsible for paying the fees assessed by the staff.
  4. Any fees left unpaid for more than 14 business days will result in a registration hold place on a SFSU student’s transcript. Non-students will be turned into a collection agency and the renter will be responsible for all collection fees.
